Plum

A Poem

You sat and stared with your automaton eyes,
And I too became automated.
You obviously enjoyed Lysistrata, I said.
Yes, it was enjoyable, you replied.
I was thinking about taking the last plump plum
When you actioned your arm to the bowl.
I didn’t actually enjoy it all that much, I said.
Oh, was the reply, and then you bit through the skin
With an attempted smile.
